Dances with Wolves’ 4-week Puppy Academy program is designed for new puppy owners who want to get a head start on training. Our White Swiss Shepherd puppy training program builds the foundation for a confident, well-mannered dog.

What to Expect
We begin professionally training your White Swiss Shepherd puppy at eight weeks of age. You will forgo the messes in the house and skip the whining stage as the puppy is separated from mom and siblings. With our starter training, it will be a much more pleasant transition for the puppy and for your whole family and you can finish training at home using the foundation that we have built for you.
Our Puppy Academy focuses on early life skills that set puppies up for success:
- • Personalized home-based training at our ranch
- • Introduction to basic obedience commands
- • Early potty training and crate comfort
- • Gentle separation from littermates to promote independence
- • Socialization with other dogs, horses, and farm animals on our small family ranch
- • Exposure to real-life experiences like riding in the car
You’ll receive frequent photo updates and progress reports — so you can see your puppy grow even before they come home!
Skills and Activities Taught at Puppy Academy
House Training
- • Initial start on potty training
- • Crate training: Comfort in a safe personal space
- • Basic dog commands: Sit, Stay, Down, Come, and Wait
- • Manners: No biting, chewing on furniture, or jumping on people
Life Skills
- • Leash walking basics
- • Riding calmly in a car
- • Safe socialization: Exposure to dogs, horses, and farm animals
- • (Summer only) Swim-Time: Supervised pool fun during warm months
Health & Care
While in our care, your puppy will receive:
- • Another round of puppy vaccinations and deworming
- • Regular grooming: brushing, nail trimming, and handling

Keep in Mind*
While with us, your puppy will have a conceptual understanding and a great head start on all the skills listed above. However, every puppy is unique and all puppies have a short attention span just like toddlers!
For instance, your puppy will learn basic potty training while with us, but exposure to a new home with new surfaces may create initial confusion for the puppy, so you’ll have to reinforce what he has learned at our Puppy Academy and maybe get additional support from a local trainer once you get home and are ready to build on.
Our goal is that your puppy will understand the concepts and the meaning of commands so that he will respond well to your continuous education when home with you.
We will be in touch with updates and photos of your student frequently.
